Dec 09, 2023
From 2 PM to 11:45 PM
This year will be the 23rd edition of Les Habits de Lumière in Epernay. It is difficult to describe. Imagine walking down the Avenue de Champagne at night and being treated to amazing light shows projected onto the walls of prestigious champagne houses, nipping into their courtyards to sip champagne or nibble food prepared by Michelin starred chefs or from more down-to-earth food trucks, listening to music and dancing, and finishing the evening with fireworks. It is the ultimate champagne street party!
You can take a look at the video compilation from last year to give you an idea: https://youtu.be/2UxOeJnyaV8.
This year the theme of the light show installations is: FLOWERS. So all the light shows will be related to flowers! They start at 7pm.
Program for the day
14:00: Meet Cynthia at Gare de l’Est train station in Paris
14:30-16:00: Train to Epernay. During the journey I will talk to you about the history of the wine and the region, and how the industry is organised today. Since we will be heading to Epernay, there will be a special focus on the history of the champagne houses in Epernay.
16:00-20:30: We will stroll up and down the Avenue de Champagne to admire ALL the light shows. We will pop into at least the following courtyards for a glass of champagne: Moët et Chandon, Perrier-Jouët, Pol Roger. When we are hungry we will pop into Boizel or the Syndicat des Vignerons de Champagne for some sustenance from the food trucks. And we can of course pop into others like De Castellane, Elodie D., Leclerc-Briant, De Venoge, etc. for more champagne.
20:30-22:00: Fireworks, dancing and the Silent Disco (bring some earphones for that experience)
22:00-00:00: Driver takes us back to Paris
Cost: 200€ for Delectabulles members, 225€ for non-members. Includes train ticket, driver and my guiding. Does not include champagne and food. Price of a glass of champagne varies from one bar to the next. I can only take 6 people. First come, first served.
Notes: Wear comfortable walking shoes, warm layered clothes. Bring a bottle of water and a bit of cash for the champagne and food (but credit cards should work).
