International Women's Day Dinner at Bubble Bliss

International Women's Day Dinner at Bubble Bliss

International Women’s Day is celebrated on 8 March every year all around the world. I celebrate women in Champagne every day because I only use champagnes made by women in my champagne classes and tasting events. I also only take people to visit houses where women play an important role (CEO, cellar master, owner, winemaker, winegrower). I have been working with women in the wine industry for the last eight years and it has opened up my eyes to their specific challenges. I feel it is important to take this opportunity to thank and celebrate the fearless women in Champagne today.

There are of course many women who paved the way in the past, like the incredible widows Clicquot, Pommery, and Laurent-Perrier. We probably wouldn’t be drinking as much champagne today if they hadn’t developed the markets in Russia and England, or invented the riddling table, started using chalk pits to age bottles, or launched the first vintage champagne, the first brut champagne, the first zero dosage champagne, or invented the blended rosé method. And there are many women making a difference today.

List of champagnesJoin me to celebrate and learn about these women in Champagne at Bubble Bliss, a fabulous new champagne bar in Paris, owned by two fearless women - Marina and Daria! They have chosen 4 champagnes made by women and asked their chef to craft a special 5-course menu (see above) to pair with the champagnes. One of the winemakers, Florence Marcoult, will also be joining us. I will be telling stories about the women in the history of champagne while you sip and eat and you will get to meet Florence and ask her all the questions you want!
